Lou Pambianco, Chairman and CEO of Startup Sandbox has built and managed the bioscience incubator at University of California, Santa Cruz. On the foundation of the digital revolution of the 20th Century, bioscience is defining the first half of the 21" Century, and the University of California, Santa Cruz is a leader. With over $150M in research grants annually and as the university whose publications are most cited, its Office of Research champions innovation and entrepreneurship and houses a vast portfolio of intellectual property.

 

The lessons learned as Corporate Development Partners spearheaded the development of the Exceptional Growth Model of digital companies that grew from time zero to $1 Billion in revenue in less than ten years are now the advantage that Startup Sandbox member companies have. Lou is a competitive ocean sailboat racer and has captained Red Hawk, his ultra-light Santa Cruz 40, and Heartbeat, his Wylie 46, to victories in scores of competitions. He is also a member of the six-day club of transpacific mono hull racers. Crewing on the legendary yacht Merlin in the Pacific Cup, Merlin completed the San Francisco to Hawaii race in six days nineteen hours. And to temper his competitive edge and nourish the soul, Lou is an avid gardener and a talented cook.
